Things have been a bit silent around these parts over the last week.
It's been a bit tough to find things I really want to write about over the last three games. Sure, the Florida game was fun; dominating bad teams is always a hoot, plus the kids played well again and Tyler Ennis got another goal. The Toronto game was a temporary setback; there was clear fatigue near the end of that game, understandable since they expended all their energy whooping the Panthers the night before. I haven't watched Saturday night's Montreal game yet because I was at the Bandits game, but since the Sabres couldn't bother to score a goal, I'm not sure I can be bothered to watch the replay much less write about it. (Especially when you see quotes like this from the captain about said game.)
With the division all but settled, it's been very difficult for me to care about wins and losses over the last week. I don't see that improving over the next four games. The second seed is still within reach, but does it really matter? Past Ottawa, nobody at the bottom of the Eastern playoff race is playing much like it wants or deserves to make the playoffs. I couldn't really care less if we play the Flyers, Canadiens, Rangers, Thrashers, or Bruins. So for me, the #2 seed only matters in terms of home ice in the second round, and I'm not ready to think that far ahead yet.
I'll try to get back on track following the Rangers game. Hopefully by then the division WILL be wrapped up so at least there will be something semi-interesting to discuss.
